In Los Angeles you can rent one from Midway...

Other than Europe, you'll never see more smarties driving around the roads than here in Martha's Vineyard, where we've been vacationing. They're everywhere. A few of them are even privately owned (like the awesomely license-plated red smart with the TAMATA tags), but most are for rent at several locations, esp one in Vineyard Haven. I didn't look into the cost; there are 5 of us.
