Who used their Fix-A-Flat kit?

was just curious if anyone has used the tire repair kit yet? Most of the flats I've heard about were in big accidents where they really blew out and the rims got killed so the kit would be of little use but how but just your run of the mill flats from a nail or something?

I am a big fan of fix-a-flat, it saved me a couple times with previous cars

I bought two cans of the Fix-A-Flat stuff and put it in my gate. I have heard that using the factory stuff will 1) cost you $60 to replace, and 2) necessitate replacing the hose on the pump.
I will use the pump, but not the compound unless I absolutely have to.

Prestone Tire Jack

I bought a can of Prestone Tire Jack for $10. It is the sealant and inflator all in one, so you don't have to mess with the 12V pump.

I hope it works.

good call, I think I will do the same. I feel sorry for all the people that bought the Smart Safety kit that fits in the back gate, now where will they store all the other junk??

Anybody know if this stuff affects the TPMS? I have seen warnings on Tire Racks page about the Continental Sealant kits.

I heard at the dealership that the pump is a one time use item - if you use the goop. In the "old" days you could use a rubber band and a modified large needle and rubber cement to do an emergency fix. I can't imagine using the sealant and ruining the compressor.

That is incorrect. The pump is not damaged, only the hose has to be replaced at a cost of $5 or so....

Used Fix-A-Flat in the past

3 years ago I had a flat. I was going to just put on my spare when someone ran over with a can of Fix-A-Flat. He said it would fix my tire. The tire did eventually go flat about 2 or 3 months later. When I took it to a tire place to get the hole patched they wouldn't touch it. They said it 1) ruins the tire and 2) can be flammable . I ended up replacing the tire. I wouldn't use the Fix-A-Flat unless you fix it in your head that you'll have to replace the tire. But like I said. I drove on that tire for 2-3 months. Don't know if that was the best thing to do, but you live, you learn.

I'm a big fix-a-flat fan -- I won't tell you how many times I've used it, or how long I've gone on a fix-a-flat tire without getting the tire patched or replaced. I was actually curious why Smart chose to include what appears to be a Rube Goldberg-type contraption rather than just a simple can of fix-a-flat. Anyone know?

I've used fix-a-flat and then had the tire patched with out any problems.
Maybe its how long you keep the stuff in there or something.
Anyway, Les Shwab patched a tire that had the fix-a-flat and didn't fuss or anything.
