I think I waited longer than anyone?

I was at the Geneva auto show (It was either 94 or 95) when SWATCH showed the prototype?
I told the guy there that I wanted one as soon as they became available in the US.
Got mine on Feb 22, 2008

So, I waited 14 years?

It depends on how you look at it.

I first contacted smart in 2000 after seeing them in Cannes. My avatar is me standing next to one in July 2000 in Cannes. I've been tracking ever since. Although I was constantly trying to keep track, I didn't find out about the reservation system until mid April 2007. Made my reservation on April 17, 2007, Configure 12/4/07, finally go a VIN from dealer and found out that it just got off the ship on Fri 5/2. However, the dealer said "Probably at the end of the month." The dealer can't seem to get any more information than that. I don't know how long it will take to get from Baltimore to CT. So it's close.

I reserved 4/13/07 and I can't get any info at all from the dealer in Tulsa. The ACME delivery date estimator has moved my time back to, Estimated ETA Date:
5/1/2008 to 7/30/2008, as of just now. You would think a VIN might show up on someones list fairly soon.

Well if I get mine on the first day of the DDE which is highly unlikely, it will have been a 425 day wait from day of deposit.

That was what I was suggesting... the "wait" is getting close to 10 YEARS now for me

I am sure some one here will claim desire as far back as the concept cars in LA circa 1994 ( I think)

reso wait... seems to me there is still one or two 118?s still waiting out there

You live in Guilford, CT? My daughter lives there......Just an observation. Hope you get your car soon. Are you with the Hartford dealer or the Littleton (Littlefield?) one?

My dealer is Hartford, although I'm equidistant to Hartford and Fairfield. The odd thing is that there is someone in Essex who was assigned to Fairfield even though Hartford is closer.

I reserved May 17, 2007 and configured in December, 2007. I've been told that my smartcar is in Baltimore and should be in my hands by Memorial Day.

Since I live less than 100 miles from Baltimore, I'm tempted to drive down to the dock and break my baby-to-be out of prison early. <g>

Reserved May 11, 2007; confirmed Jan 2, 2008; DDE says June 30 to Sept 30, 2008. I live in Chicagoland (NW Indiana). Originally the DDE said Aug to Nov 08.
At a minimum it will probably be 13.5 to 16 months from start to finish. Chicagoland only has 2 dealers to cover 13 mil people.
