Waiting for logical point to "reserve" to ensure a 2010 version to trade Farnsworth in for.... grin.... my warranty plan is to get a new smart every 2 years as long as the trade in is as high as I suspect it will be
You should be in the 2010 time frame now, Fred. I'm doing the same thing. My '08 (May 1, 2008 delivery--a year to the day from my initial reservation)) will be under 24k
when the 2010s come out.
I waited a few months after delivery of my '08 and made the second reservation, trying to score a '10 model. I already have my second DDE---well into November '09-- which translates to a '10 model (...using the current '09 production figures). Who knows, though, I might prefer a '10 Toyo IQ.
I was thinking of a 2010 MHD smart. My DDE was Dec 09, now its moved to Nov 09. When it gets closer, I might cancel and re-register if the timeline keeps moving up.
took delivery april 16, over 22,000 now. Will surpass 30k by the end of the year and probably over 50k in the first year of ownership.
Yeah, I just hit 20K today and am taking her back to the dealership for the scheduled tune-up (and to fix a few minor problems with the electrics and the door latch). How much was your scheduled 20K? I was quoted a price around $450 here in NYC. At least they throw in a free car-wash every time I bring the car in.
I drive really slowly (less than 60 mph avg on the highway) and drive at a quiet time of day in an area of little dust; I rarely use the brakes (no more than 3 times every time I drive into NYC or back home). I have a feeling I can forestall certain replacements (filters, brake pads, oil). I'll ask tom'w.
