I used to have a '56 Hudson (Nash sibling) Metropolitan that got 40mpg on average. It was an old Austin Motors drivetrain with an American styled body. Beautiful car, steel panels, seating for four (smaller folks in the back) and a trunk. Emissions dropped the mileage heavily in the coming decades, but thanks to politics and economics, we are going to see more of those cars come back in the next decade or two. I can't wait! I ride a 75mpg Kawasaki Ninja daily, but welcome a worthy microcar to share my garage space!
