Why multiple Smarts???

I am noticing a lot of posters are getting more than one Smartie, why is this? I know I can only drive one at a time and can't see why I would need 2 or more. Also, how can you afford it? I know we paid cash for ours and don't want to go into debt on anything with the economy the way it is. Do you just want to have a spare or do you alternate driving them? Just curious.....
P.S. I couldn't be happier with mine!!!!

America, what a great country

Because I can?

I want to be like Jay Leno and be able to drive a different vehicle every day without repeating for a year?

When I was growing up, we drove what we could afford (which wasn't much).
Now I get to drive what I want.

I've got three cars. A Mazda 3 hatchback for weekends, cargo, and carrying 3-4 people. My wife barelly drives but she uses this one occassionally. Mostly me driving it on weekends with wife + kid. A Mazdaspeed MX-5 as my personal sports car, convertible. It's rare, very fast, and lots of fun. Finally, a Smart fortwo for commuting to/from work (40 miles round trip) and occassional dates out with wife (always find parking at crowded areas with the Smart).

I guess the Mazdaspeed is the odd-car, so if I get financially crunched that is the one I would be forced to sell.

I drive a lot. Around 30,000 miles year. I'd love to get another smart for the weekend or for trips. I am looking into the 2010 time frame.

Shortly after I got my smart, my wifes '02 T-bird was in the shop so I let her drive mine for a week. She tried to steal mine when her T-bird came back. I made her buy her own smart. They are not that expensive compared to our other vehicles. Now we are twice as smart.

Don't even have my first one yet, but have made a 2nd reservation! I can have 2 smarts for less than the price of the 1 vehicle I'm driving now!

With the average car price around $20,000 two Smart Pure, like I will have, are not much more. I got a orphan. And after we had it for a while we thought we would still get the car we ordered. My oldest adult son will buy my 2nd car or my wife my want it. Either way a Smart is too good a deal to pass up...even if w sold it after we got it.

I made a second reservation about a month after picking up my Cabrio. I am hopeful there will be some improvements for 2009, so I will get the benefit of those and i shoud be able to sell the current car for close to what I paid for it. If the market shifts and smarts become a tough sell (which is hard to imagine) I can always orphan the second car.
