I asked Smart USA Support about my DDE and I got this answer.
Dear smart Enthusiast, Our Delivery Date Estimator is currently not showing an estimated time of delivery for the smart fortwo reservation you placed on 7/18/2008. The $99 Reservation Program began in March 2007; since you have a fairly new reservation date please try our DDE again in 2-3 weeks. Please take into consideration that our Delivery Date Estimator is updated daily to take into account any reservation cancellations, and changes in production or distribution. We suggest that you check the Delivery Date Estimator periodically, every two to three weeks, to see if you get an estimated delivery window. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us via email or by phone at 1.800.smartusa. Thank you for your interest in smart USA. You will be hearing from us soon! At least you got an email back. I have emailed them twice and gotten no response. What pisses me off is I called them up and asked why I have no date range since I configured. I just got an email from a guy that ordered a month after me. Same pickup location, and yet he picks his up this weekend. Grant it, I am wondering if it has something to do with how many options or even that I ordered the Cabriolet. All smart USA could tell me when I called them asking why some dealerships get them fater then others and they said that it's because of some dealerships have a higher demand then others. I think that is BS. If I go to a Fast food restraunt and order a burger, then a guy comes in and orders 10. Should he get his first?? I think not. They should be in a computer, and all in line. Heck, you would think that since I am paying more for my car then the ones that just got the Pure that they would be pushing Cabriolets more. Nothing makes sense with those Germans.
Estimated ETA Date: September 2009 to November 2009
It is important to note that the DDE does not reflect any potential changes in vehicle production, distribution and Reservation Holder cancellations. Any of these factors could change your estimated delivery date. Please continue to check the DDE from time to time as information is updated on a continuous basis
Waa Hoo I have a Delivery Date. Estimated ETA Date: September 2009 to November 2009
Alright, you reserved 6 days after I did, and mine still can't be calculated!
But, since you're in a small town in Arizona (not the megalopolis centered on NYC) maybe I should take heart, and check back frequently, huh?
The window you're getting would come to a year +a few months. My first smart took just shy of 14 months from reservation to delivery.

My DDE was for Oct-Dec for the last few months. A few days ago it disappeared and now all I get is the cannot be estimated message. It's a real drag for me because I sold my orphan and now I'm smartless with no DDE.
