I've searched here for maintenance but can't find anywhere where anyone has said what smart says needs to be done. I know about getting first oil change at 10K but what I want is a schedule that I can look at of what needs to be done and at what time. I've looked through the manual and all it says regarding maintenance is to call authorized service center.
There is a small maintenance manuel, that came with the car. It shows, what is needed at 10,000, 20,000, etc. It's bundled with the owners, tire, radio, and warranty manuel.
At delivery time, beside the Owner's Manual and the radio user's guide, the Dealer should have included a maintenance pamphlet (in the document "velcroed" mesh holder).
(It's too early for me to get to the car where it currently is, I'll post the pamphlet's title and some excerpts soon.)
Must have missed it. I've been searching online for the information. The car will tell you when it's time for maintenance right? There's a wrench icon that shows up on the lcd right?
It is called:

The cluster reminder shows one wrench for the 10,000 Miles/One Year service, two wrenches for the more comprehensive 20,000 Miles/2 Year service.

What if after a year you haven't driven 10000 miles do you still need to get service done or wait till you have that much mileage. I imagine the indicator is coming on by miles not by date as I don't know if the car actually knows what the date is lol.

Both. Other members have noticed that the service reminder comes on (and is supposed to be performed) whatever is first.
Mine came on first part of March. I picked up on May 1 2008. So it's about a year from manufacture date, not delivery date. I only have 6k miles on mine, and plan to get my service done asap. Because after a year, oil typically degrades anyway and with my short trips, I've been stressing joints and such worth about a year's driving anyway.
I'm sure the oil change is simple enough to do but I'd like the experts to give it a once-over to check out new rattles, etc.
I had the wrench light up and a counter when one first started the little car. It was showing - briefly - a negative number. It is to indicate routine maintenance needed. I had mine done at the service center at Smarter Center Edison. They have a really nice service center.
