Why are there grooves here? (on-dash accessories) - Smart Car of America Forums : Smart Car Forum

I was wondering why these grooves are here, in the center console? If you examine them, it seems like something can slide in there and clip on, so as not to fall.

Are there any smart OEM accessories that are placed there?

If not, I think it would be a a great opportunity to develop some kind of base for GPS, iPhone and other accessories.

Smokers kit (ack ack) aka ashtray

CD holder (each unit holds 6 cds)

drink holder (if the two on the floor aren't enough?)

I have seen a cassette tape holder (same round design as CD holder)

You can mix and match any 2 of the above?

has anyone seen the cell phone braket that smart sells its an acual smart item that they brought in from germany but its not even listed on their product booklet and it cost 100 bucks anybody have pictures of this thing installed ~

don't even bother with the phone console. here's a thread i started a while ago when i was interested in it. there are several pictures, too.

Can anyone post a picture of the base for the CD holder/ashtray that locks into these grooves? I'd like to see it.

It just slides in, and there's a little clip that locks it into place. You press on the clip to remove it. There may be a better picture here - smart Interior Accessories by classicsmarts. - sheureka
