Will the next person who visits Smartville please ... (Re: watches)

... look into getting some smart watches in the gift shop for the members here. I, for one, would love to have one but I don't see a trip to Europe in my future.

Regards,

Dan

Depending on cost... I would consider getting a smart watch as well.

They didn't have any that I remember when I was there in 2005 and 2008, at least not the originals from 1997, which is what I assume you mean.

I'll be driving right past Hambach this September but after two factory tours, it's getting a bit old, so we're doing other stuff, further south (like Spain and Languedoc) this time.

Talk about bad timing. I was there two days ago. Yes they still have some of the smart ICE watches there. ( see one in my gallery) I think they were 25 - 28 euros. I dont think I will have time to swing by there again as we have moved on to Bavaria and Switzerland and then fly to Stockholm for a Baltic cruise. I did get a cool smart huge bath towel.

Dan, don't take this the wrong way. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your request, but unless there is a firm commitment to purchase (i.e., actual money transferred), I don't see how this would be practical.

Let's say some SCOA member goes there, looks around the gift shop, and makes note of all the watches that are in stock. Then what? That person comes back here in the U.S. and let's us know what watches are available, at which point it's too late to do anything about it.

Or were you expecting that person to go to the smartville shop, take an inventory, then log back online and wait for us to place our orders via SCOA? Forget the 6-9 hour difference; how long is that person supposed to wait at the shop or somewhere nearby for the SCOA forum members to log in and place orders?

It seems like the best way to do this is to research available watches beforehand, pick your top 3 or 4 watches in descending order of choice, place an order and give sufficient money to the smartville visitor before he/she takes off for france, then get a refund for the price difference (if any) when that person comes back with the watch (or maybe just let that person keep the difference to pay for his/her troubles).

Or maybe you can just call the smartville shop and simply order it from them.

Thanks for your input.

I will gladly pay in advance for the watch - PayPal, check, cash, barter whatever the member would like. Just let me know when you're going and tell me how you'd like to be paid.

I have corresponded with SCOA member "Keshyathree" who works there about getting one of these watches but that has resulted in a dead end.

I am not aware that there are different watches available Here's a link to the one I'm interested in.: Watch 454538 - Smart Car of America Gallery

Dan

Ther is only one smart watch that they sell at the visitor center. They had four on display. I would have been happy to pick you up one if I had known last week. The 25 euros is not a problem. If you didn't pick it up it would be no problem to sell it for a profit. Might be back in France next week, I'll keep you posted.
