related question....any idea if the stock size Contis will fit on the Sport Edition wheels from Tirerack? They say reccommended tire size for the front wheel is 185/55 15 and for the rear, 205/50 15
I'm not sure where you got those sizes. I got 175/55r15s all the way around. When these tires are gone, I'm going with 195/50r15s for summer tires. They are the closes to the stock tire overall diameter.

The size you were quoted are a little taller and wider than stock tires.

4 tires should fit if you fold down the front seat and stack them.

I would NOT recommend this. I don't know why it's on here. I also got the same rims/tires from Tirerack. Call them and tell them you want 175/55r15 all the way around so you can rotate them. This is the size that they suggest for this car. With the other sizes, you can't rotate them because they are different size in front and in back.

I got 4 sport wheels (with different color bars that you can add on to customize), 4 175/55r15 blizzaks, with TPMS, mounted, balanced and shipped to MN from IN for about $1100.

4 tires without rims will fit upright in the back. When mounted, you have to fold down the front seat to fit them in.

2 wheels in the passenger foot well, the other 2 in the back behind the driver seat. Passenger seat folded down part of the way with a stack of four tires behind it. Still room for four more tires.

BLIZZAK LM-18's are Terrific!

I just had my local tire dealer install my BLIZZAK LM-18's on my smart fortwo and, "Oh What A Feeling!"
Driving on the ContiProContacts over compact snow and ice has been one of the worst driving experiences I've ever had. The car is squirrely and wants to fishtail, even at very slow speeds. I even put snow chains on and it didn't help. However, when I switched to the BLIZZAK's, it completely eliminated this problem! Just in time too. The Pacific Northwest is about to receive its worst snowstorm in years! At least now I have the proper tires should I have to venture out.
Thank God, Bridgestone has BLIZZAK's that fit the smart car!

I mounted the Pirelli's on the stock wheels after powdercoating them black. Left the hubcaps off. Keep in mind, I have the PURE. I installed the TPMS as well. I must say, I feel as if I can mount a plow on the front of my car. It handles fantastic in the snow and we've had 3 snowfalls thus far. My plan is to simply switch to the Lorinser's after the winter. Having a dedicated set of winter wheels and summer wheels is the ONLY way to go. And not just for this car but for EVERY car if you want to maximize your car's capabilities. It's ALL about the tires.
