It took a while for the heater to kick in too. But then again, I parked outside last night where it got down to 15 below.
Tell me about it!!!!! Its was hell, but made it to work and back on the stock MS tires. We only got 2-maybe 3" snow. It track's fine on fresh virgin snow. Sucks on snow & ice mix. Rear wheel drive car. Pulls to the right braking with the ABS. Heater very slow!!!! Miss my Grand Cherokee today!!! Big time, but not gas mileage.

...I guess it all comes down to driving styles/habits...
...the icy roads was a lot of fun in my rwd 93 mustang...but with the smart and stock tires was not an issue...took it to the airport, it's non controlled, so I can go on the taxiway or where ever I wanted to...straight, hard turns, hard braking and all the fun you can have with your clothes on....and I had no problems getting the car to stay under control...it acted and responded better than any other rwd I've ever owned...
..then again...it's Indiana...so flat... if you stand in the middle of the road and look over the horizon you can see the back of your head......lol

Try blocking the upper or lower radiator inlet to help warm up quicker. Don't forget to remove it when temps get back to the 50's.
Turn on the seat heaters if you have them.
