I have owned my smart car for almost two weeks now. The car runs great. Drives fine on the highway and has been getting over 37 mpg.
The worst problem is that when driving in heavy traffic so many people slow down, or speed up, to look at you.......it can be hard to move easily through traffic. They block your ability to change lanes. It can even happen at an intersection.....people slow down to look, so you can't pull out as they are blocking your way.
This should wear off soon, I hope. But it is well worth it.
Whew, you scared me for a minute there. If that's all I got to worry about.....bring it bay-bee! I do hear ya, though and understand that it could be annoying if you need to get somewhere on schedule.

I've had my car over two weeks, and 1.1K miles , and I agree that the worst problem is gawkere's (sp?). The car itself has been performing flawlessly AND this has been some really terrible weather in MI.
I have many miles of intercity (war zone) miles on my commute, and the smart loves to 'mix it up' in the fast lane. Reminds me of my three CRX's.
I had the same problem in my weekend car. I actually caused a car accident just sitting at a light. Sadly, I had to sell the car just recently to help get out of debt. Also, sadly I'm getting a divorce so money is even tighter. But I have many pics, below is one of the latest ones.

Yes, How true! driving across US 80 last fall in the 450 passion, I was suprised by all the folks who, as they passed were taking pictures of me cruising 75mph.
Yes, the novelty will wear off but not in the near future. a pleasant "hazard" for smart car owners to get use to. Expect a little longer at the gas pump as you field questions comments etc...

The questions, cellphone flashes, conversations at stoplights, stalking don't let up. So plan extra time for visits to the market, Home Depot, Lowe's, anywhere. Smartie draws alot of attention. Just his nature.
It must be a geographic thing. I am getting attention, but not to the extent on the road as you guys reported. Must be because i'm driving around Hollywood and the weird is normal around here.
what are you talking about..shanna has a variation of the tridion safety cell on her at all times...
it's called a girdle belt and a bra =P hehe
ok hopefully that wasn't too offensive..sowwie..
