Not sure how it works in MN
But in WI I only pay sales tax on the difference between my trade in and the new car at a dealer. If I swaped cars as much as you that would realy add up.

Nobody needs a small car when gas is cheap. I just sold mine for the same price with $3000 in goodies - and consider myself lucky. My photo does not show the new Yakima roof rack and front spoiler that went with the car just an hour ago.

And what are you gonna do when the gas prices eventually climb back up? It's going to happen, just a matter of time, ya' know.

As soon as the economic recovery begins (whenever that might be) the price of fuel will soar as the speculators take their profit from all that hoarded oil sitting offshore in tankers. You might think that the supply will match the demand, but why do I think they will hold back just enough to keep the price climbing?

Last time I checked, the population of the planet isn't decreasing and billions of them all need oil. China's economy is still growing even in this recession. Enjoy the temporary lull in oil prices. I'm sticking with my Smart car.

I believe it's 7 billion and counting.

With probably 50% of them owning some type of SUV or truck.
Sooner or later, the smart will become the largest car in the world!!!
