Oddly, on the the IAAI page, every smart VIN shows Drive Line Type as FWD (rollover the VIN number on the page).

I also find it curious that the VIN shows Country as Germany and not France...

Probably because Damlier AG is a German company... The cars the Big Three build in Windsor, Ontario are legally American cars, not Canadian.
