"Wrench" indicator

Can anyone help me find out what the "wrench" indicator means. When I start my SMART, for the first ten seconds, I get an indicator that looks like an open-ended wrench that flashes just to the left of the trip odometer just above the fuel pump icon. I cannot find any reference to this anywhere in the owner's manual. Please help if you can. This is a 2008 Passion.

Thanks so much. Just after I posted this, I did a search on Wrench and read several posts. This got me to the "Maintenance" section of the manual and, there it is - the wrench symbol and what it means and how to get rid of it.

Time for routine maintenance. I had mine come on in February 2009. I had the car since March 2008. I took mine to Smart Center Edison who has a great service center.

....do the maintenance called for in the OM for the given miles/time...it will for sure make your smart last longer...
