Wrong color

I got a call yesterday from the dealer saying that my car was "on their radar", and to give them a call. The first thing the guy did after saying hello was to read off the specifics of my car-with the wrong color. I ordered yellow/black, and they built a blue/black one.

I didn't even find out what "on their radar" means, since I was pretty fumed. I was told that if I wanted to, they would resubmit my order to have it built the way I ordered it...and I'd be placed at the end of the line.

Looks like I'm going to get my deposit back.

change the panels - - that probably will be the fastest - maybe not the cheapest. But its a solution.

Right, show them your config confirmation email with the details and they should be able to swap the panels (at their/Smart's expense) to make it the car you reserved.

I'd be fuming too. You did, of course, check your "Customization complete" form, the one that was e-mailed from support@mysmartfortwo.com with "Your smart fortwo Configuration Details" as a subject and that automatically printed itself? Can you get your dealer to find an orphan that will conform to your original order and get it for you asap?

My wife wanted the yellow/black also. We purhase a orphan which was blue and black and it looks good. We've had a lot of favorable comments on the color. Like Amethyste said you can always get new panels. Maybe the dealership will cut his shipping cost or throw something in the deal like car matts.

So I'm confused, looks like you tried to change the color:
http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/for...9845#post29845

Is this one that came in for you the original color you configured and the issue is just that you tried to change it but it was too late? Did you ever get confirmation of the changes to the order?

Sounds like another configuration glitch. I'd recommend calling smart usa, explaining your original configuration e-mail details, and telling them you want the car you ordered. It's their responsibility to make that happen IMHO.

Wrong was right for me...

I just got my FourTwo last week. When I got my 30day 'radar' call they had me listed for the wrong color as well, but they said it was because I ordered black leather seats caused a glitch in their 'radar report' when I got it, it was the right color...

Loving it so far and go 259 miles on 5.9 gallons first tank...(almost 44mpg) Second tank I'm driving a bit harder and doesn't look like I'll do as well...
