WTH? I can't open my gas lid

I have no idea what happened. I just filled it up with gas a few hours ago. Now, I can't even open the lid. There's something catching on the inside. I don't want to force it open or I might break. Has this happened to anyone?

Does this thing only opens when it's low on fuel? I've never seen this before. I'm on hold with the dealership (23 min so far) so I'm getting a little ticked off. I hope I can get it solved on here much quicker.

Weird enough....but that works. The lid opened like most cars that doesn't have the locking features. I thought this was one of them. Otherwise, it wouldn't have that little lever on the lid. Most are flushed so when you press the little handle inside the car, the lid pops open.

I almost broke the darn thing...........thx. Got no help from the dealer. Too long wait time so I hung up.

I'm happy for you!!

Now, leave the gas cap open!!! go ahead....
Then press the lock button.... ahahh
Now you will see the small pin lock.
After satisfying your curiosity, Unlock with the key and close the lid.

If you look under the engine you'll see three pipes.

Get to know your ride.... and enjoy.

Lol, I had the same problem when I first got my car and hadn't read the manual. Fortunately I had to go back to the dealer the next day to drop something off and I asked how to get the gas door open. He looked at me like I was daft and said, "unlock it."

how about the passenger seat?

OK.....now I'm feeling like a total wienner. I was about this close from yanking the whole thing off. I mean if it's locked, you shouldn't be able to move it at all. I could open it for about a CM or two so I figure something got stuck.

Now onto 'wienner question#2'. Does the passenger seat recline back at all? I can't seem to retract it back too far. I know it goes forward flat but can it recline further back?

No. I hate that one can't post a simple one word reply on this forum.

Ben E. of Bobby Rahal Motors took me on a very thorough walkthrough and then a drivethrough when I was there to pick up smartbiru on that cold 2nd of Feb morning in Pittsburgh. I paid as much attention as I could, which was really a task in my excitement ("I couldn't believe I'm getting a smart, dude!") but I remembered Ben telling me, and demonstrating, those unusual tips, like the gas lid, location of the battery and how a dime would open the covering to it, going thru the dash symbols and indicators, etc. I thought I knew cars as old as I am but this little nipper was something else!

So, yes, maybe it helps to just let the salesguy take his time to do his two-hour walkthrough. I made a friend in the process, too.

Thanks, Ben! Glad I didn't have to call you except for those mats and cargo cover.

My walk through was 15 minutes. A. It was late in the evening B. We wanted to drive it home and not talk about it.
