That's an alternate hookup. You can hook up from the back or side. I would be witty (actually snotty) and quote some page number of the Scangauge guide and belittle you publicly but nah - that's not how I roll.

I used to hook mine up from the side when I used the Scangauge on my Toyotas then when I swapped them into the Smarts I plug in from the back.

Ditto on the clock - I use my tick-tock-tach clock more than the digital one.

NCC - How about questions about that Crookes Radiometer you have on the dash? I still need to head down to the science store and get one.

Did anyone notice for a time Evilution also had a OEM mount for a Garmin Nuvi that plugged into the radio 10.It mounted the same as the pods and looked great.I tried to get it from him but Garmin US had no clue as to what I was talking about.I almost bought it for the novelty of it.
