I have both. I never found the Xb noisy, however. The Xb is fun; the smart is funner. It's all subjective.

I too have them both. Really depends on the road surface to a large extent as to which one is noisier. The xB handles some better than the smart and vise versa. Overall I would say it is a toss up. Now my xB is a 2005 so it isn't the most recent heavier, more powerful version. As to which one drives better, if I was running around on the highway mostly, I would probably pick the xB, in the city the smart is hard to beat though. I freely admit I enjoy both of them, but it's fun to show off in the smart.

I guess my use of all my vehicles probably speaks to what I prefer.
Driving to work - I take the smart, wife drives the scion (she would drive the smart if she could)
Driving on weekends around the greater Austin / Round Rock area when we don't have our son with us - smart.
Driving further than an hour or so or with our son - usually our Honda Ridgeline.
If I didn't have the money and had one only have one of them, I guess I would have to take the Scion only because our son wouldn't care to be strapped to the roof.

I don't have a smart yet, but when I test drove one I did notice the noise. I'd say its a little more noisy, but it's to be expected. I never notice the noise in the xB, because I'm always listening to the radio. I think they are both fun to drive. I did notice a tighter suspension on the Smart or at least it felt like it anyway.

Living in central Texas now I can't speak for the snow handling on either of them. We see snow maybe once every three or four years, if that.

i also have a xB and i don't find any problem with highway noise either.
i'm sure the boxster his louder in the Highway than the scion.
i'm actually going to be replacing my scion with the smartcar.
im sure you like the boxster since it's a convertible, and the xB is a farely easy and worry free car.
if you plan on keeping the porsche and bmw, get rid of the xB for sure, each car should have it's own little purpose

the xb is a worry free car for sure. and it's front wheel.
if I replace the xb, then all I have are rear wheel.
I'm thinking about the snow two weeks ago
