Yes, I'm asking this question again

I'll try to make this as painless as possible because I know how we all don't care for repeat offenders.

I know I saw somewhere the answer to this question on some thread somewhere, but have no clue where. If you can remember you can just tell me which thread and I'll re-read it. Or if you want you can just re-answer.

When I test drove the SMART the dealer showed me how to let my foot off the gas every so slightly to change the gears. I thought I read somewhere that someone said you didn't pull your foot off the gas. My question is:

Do I or Don't I pull my foot off the gas a little to change gears?

Thanks,
-Lindy

you do not. lifting your foot during gear shifting will only serve to prolong delayed shifts and confuse the computer. lifting your foot is a reflexive action from when you had to do so in a standard tranny with clutch pedal. the computer takes care of not only the clutch for you, but also the throttle during shift.

No. You do not have to take your foot off the peddle.

Apply throttle, hold throttle, let the transmission do it's job.

Once you get used to it, it's wonderful.

The computer adjusts the throttle for shifting so you don't have to let your foot off the gas pedal.

Hi, yuckmoon! I find that if I give it a bit MORE accelleration that it seems to shift much more smoothly. If you'd let up on the gas to shift every gear I think you're going to end up with whip-lash. It's all a learning curve.
PS Are you guys thinking about coming to the get together on Aug 23 in Bowie. See "August- Meet, greet & Eat" posting. August Meet, Greet and Eat?
