PS Are you guys thinking about coming to the get together on Aug 23 in Bowie. See "August- Meet, greet & Eat" posting. August Meet, Greet and Eat?
I haven't made up my mind yet. I hate to keep coming to these things and not have a smart of my own. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Thanks for bringing this up again. Having followed all of the old threads..I was still confused!! NOW..I think I'm clear, finally!

For those who hate seeing repeated subjects: long, old, convolutedthreads are NOT the best sources for information. There is a need for refresher threads such as this to re-affirm what some may have thought, or not thought in the past. A bit more tolerance would be nice!!! Nobody is forcing anyone to read threads for which, already, he may know the answer. For some of us, old news IS new news!!!!

lift up slight when shifting

The Smart dealer where I bought my Herb - Smart Center Edison - said to lift ones foot off the gas when it starts to slow down a bit. I was told that this helps make the change smoother. I have found that it does not give me whiplash. I do not press on the gas when it slows a bit then press again. I have found I still have smooth acceleration. They said one can just keep pressing the gas but the transitions would not be as smooth. This is just my experience driving Herb; my Smart Fortwo Pure.

Final answer: Try it both ways. Then do whichever works best for you.
