Are you afraid to drive in "D" mode?

Hey,
Does anyone beside me bumping the shifter in the "Neutral" @ 60MPH while driving in "D" to upshift?

Most of my cars are stick shifts, and after a year of owning my "surfmobile" I'm still 90% of the time use floor shifter to change gears and not paddle shifters. But EVERY time I try to use the car in Auto mode, I forget about it and bump my car in the "N". Most of the time is when I trying to pass someone or merge on the Highway.
So now I am paranoid about driving the car in "D".
Anyone else with the same problem?

Since I drive in auto mode all the time, I have not experienced that.

Drive in "D" a lot, 'cause the car is generally more intelligent than I am. Never bumped it into "N". Got a nervous twitch Cube?

I use the paddles ALL the itme. That meands as soon as I shift to D, I hit the down paddle and I am in Manual and a way I go. No problems there.

Yep, me too, no problems as I use manual mode and paddles. Sometimes I find myself resting my hand on the stick when stopped from old habit but I never actually use it - have found it easy to acclimate to paddles on cars, I like it

I did that a few times early on, although usually at much slower speeds! Since getting the transmission upgraded, I no longer have that problem because I don't shift with the shifter.

Old program in my Getrag and drive in 'D' all the time, except when passing in the hills.

I've always driven automatics before I bought my smart. I assumed that auto would be the way I would continue to drive. But about a month into my ownership, I started kicking it over to manual and haven't looked back since. "D" is what I'm in briefly while shifting between N and +/-.

Just leave my 09 in "D" and switch to manual via paddle

You're gonna LIKE the upgrade Cube

Why manual?
