Two fortwo and love it!

We got our orphan a few weeks before our ordered smart came in. When we first got the orphan we were told we could cancel our reservation on line or we could keep it if we wanted. I wanted to see how long it'd take for our reserved smart to get here so we kept the reservation. Well, we enjoyed the orphan so much and we'd waited so long for our sweet Daisy that we decided to get her as well. Had to sell our 1993 Volvo 850 with 250,000 to get her, which was a little traumatic to me at first, but now that the Volvo's gone we've had no regrets about having two smarts so far. Before we got the second car we listed the pros and cons for both cars. With the price of fuel rising and the cost of the repairs the Volvo needed it seemed the smart would truly pay for itself within a few years. My husband loves that he has his own car and I must admit that I'm enjoying having my own as well. It was a lot of fun to see people's reaction to getting a second smart as well. There was a rumor where I worked that I swapped the panels out on the car and some people had funny reactions to that. Our orphan is black/silver (Black Beauty) and Daisy is yellow/black. Some folks thought I was crazy to change the classy black car into a bright yellow one. Obviously they didn't realize that you can't swap the tridion color. Other folks absolutely love the yellow. We have a diesel F250 crew cab for when we need to go anywhere as a family or haul something. Almost always it's only one or two of us in the car at a time so the smart makes sense. I also really appreciate when I go to fill up it's only around $25 - $30 instead of $100 - $125 for the truck. I've filled the truck up once since I got my Daisy in April instead of every week. If you're thinking about a second smart I say go for it!

Susan

Garage
Our 1523 reservation is still there; will wait to see exactly what that means in terms of an 09 or 2010 car - new options, DRLs, rear fog light maybe? Probably will sell the one we have now if we decide to take the new one.

lol that would be funny.

We got our 1215 in February and love it. We're definitely going to be a two smart household.
I am afraid the PT Cruiser will have to go *sniff* although we love her too...
Our PT Cruiser is getting left more and more but we are going to keep her. We have our Red/Pumpkin SMART 01 (Cal Lic Plate) and love her ... we have ordered UB SMART due next March.

I told the wife that I needed one for each foot.

Now what am I going to do with the 300M and the F150. I need the F150 to get hay and stuff for the "ranch". We have a 1 acre ALPACA "ranch" with 12 fuzzies.

2 smarts?

My reaction exactly! I just want my ladybug! Hopefully, per my dealer, early July.
However, we do need another vehicle with more seating as we have four grandchildren and need the Impala (not that I can fit them all in at the same time, unless there is some lapsitting going on!) If we didn't need the extra seating it would be an easy choice.

An additional thought on why I am getting my second smart.

A while back I discovered that I could rent a larger car for those very rare times I need to haul extra people for trips or events. We are older and the kids have moved on. We have the 300M for normal local stuff and when we need to make a family run out of town for Christmas etc. we just go to our local rental place (Budget etc) and grab a van. That $120.00 or so for the rare weekend is a whale of a lot cheaper than the extra 300.00 or so per month to gas the vehicle we really don't need.

Most of the time those big expensive rides are just a status thing or an ego soother.

Just give me another smart! Ca Lic "U B SMART"

i had planned on having TWO smarts all along. just haven't broken it to the wife yet! ;)

one for me (to and from work) and one for her (daily driver for her business runs) and we'll keep our Jeep Compass for the occasions where we either need to transport MORE than two people, hauling or vacation trips to PA and KC to visit family.

nice thing is that we can fit all THREE in a TWO car garage....the smarts parked 'end to end'. SWEET!
