Shouldn't have come to this thread

This is getting depressing. I reserved in January with the word that I would be confirming a couple of months later with the Smart showing up 3 months after that. So far still no confirmation and the closest dealer is 350 miles +. Meanwhile people are already talking about getting their third one?
I don't understand how a company can expect to survive on false claims. Sudden popularity or not, if Smart USA doesn't start being straight with their potential customers, it will turn sour soon. Already saw a thread on some new Toyota that could be competition to the Smart. Those tired of the wait will soon bail.

Thanks for letting me vent.
Be careful out there.
Pops

I'm headed for 2

I picked up my smart passion orphan in Feb. and configured my reserved passion the last of April. I hope to keep both! We still have an 04 Mercury Van for hauling kids, furniture, shopping for large items, family vacations, but day to day driving will be a smart for the wife and a smart for hubby.

We ordered 2

Reserved 2 in March of 2007. We picked up an orphan late January and waited until April for my cab. Someone else got my husband's bumble bee as an orphan. We love them. They are known to our friends & family as Floyd & Phoebe. For a nice picture of them with Puget Sound in the background check my gallery, or see them snuggled up for the night in one parking space by doing an image search for "smart parking"

I hear Ya!. I don't think it would be a good idea to buy from a non-dealer at this time since I live so far away. I am still trying to convince my wife that I am willing to take a chance having to head all the way to Houston for service (although I am definitely not looking forward to that...). I am contemplating getting on an orphan list.
I don't plan on giving up. So far I still want a Smart but it is getting frustrating. I wish I would have found this forum before putting in the reservation, at least I would have known what to expect.

Thanks for your time,
Pops
