Is Your Actual MPG Meeting your Expectations?

1. My actual MPG is exceeding my expectations.

2. My MPG is about what I expected it to be.

3. My MPG is slightly below my expectations.

4. I am very dissapointed in the MPG I am getting.

Curious what forum members overall are feeling about their actual MPG after the first 1000 or so miles on their smarts.

Best has been 39 mpg so far; I'm hoping to see it in the low 40s at some point.

mpg average is 37.5 after 2400 miles with or without A/C and driving 60-70 mph. My target value is 40 mpg. This week I am driving no faster than 55 mph to see this is the key to getting 40 mpg. My weekly routine is 80% highway.

my current mpg record:

first tank 33.4
second tank 36.5
half way through the third tank and we are well an our way to 300 miles, which will put us over 40.

All suburb driving. Rare AC. 3/4 one passenger, 1/4 2 passengers. Rare winds.

Break in period surely effects mpg. (I suspect both the car and us drivers are breaking in!)

If I can routinely get above 40 in the city, I will be over the moon.

Can't wait to take a highway trip to see our best possible.

I still think my Pure with alarm only option will do better than average...and is doing that after 1000 miles. No power steering, no A/C to rob power, and thus affect mpg, or the added weight. I'd like to see how much weight power windows, heated seats, power mirrors, power steering etc add to a Smart....when you are dealing with 70 hp it makes a big difference!

I went from 32 to 36 and it seems to be holding at 36. Not what I had expected (only due to this forum) but far better than my old Yukon and I am quite satisfied.

Two tanks, first one 38pmg, second 36mpg. I'd also like to or hope to be at 40 at some point but 38 is good.

I, too, have only been able to get 36 mpg after 1500 miles. Drive a Passion, California gas, mostly city (flat roads) but some freeway (70mph and some hills), driven in manual mode almost exclusively (automatic mode is horrible). Usually shift b/w 3500-4000 rpm. I'm still playing around with foot off the pedal at the shift and not lifting the foot, slowing down on the freeway, shifting at a lower rpm, etc. based on info in the posts, but really would like to see 40 mpg or better. Any input?
