Are your Smarts bright?

So hey, all you lucky people driving your Smarts around, I have yet to hear anything about the lighting or see any pictures of the car at night or with lights on - so how are they?

How are the headlights, the throw and cutoff and quality of light?

Same goes for the fogs, how are they?

Curious what the interior lighting is like, any neat details we are not aware of regarding mood lighting or door handle illumination?

Pics! I'd love to see how the car looks with headlamps/fogs on and how the rear brakes and turn signals look illuminated too.

I'm just curious to hear and see what kind of 'light' you can shed on the subject until I can find out for myself

the light is actually awesome. both dim and brights are very powerful. i don't have fogs so can't comment on that.

interior lighting is junk. cheap dome light on the ceiling. nothing special or neat about it unfortunately.

Same here, I drive up a dark canyon to home. Projector beam lamps have a sharp cutoff on the top like a xenon. Brights are very bright, no fogs.

Nighttime when you remote lock the car the lights come on for about 30 seconds, nice. Inside comes on, too when you unlock.

Dome light dims on and off when the door is opened. it is pretty small. Rocker switch on the light for never on, always on and automatic.

Thanks for the feedback - too bad about the interior lighting being so blah. It will be tough not to mod that as I've seen people do neat things with leds for improved lighting for handles, footwell and stuff. I imagine no additional lighting in the boot huh? Does the dome lamp illuminate it much?

And I can't recall at the moment, do the turn signals in the rear light up amber?

yea, that's one problem i've seen. last night i was driving home from costco and heard something rolling around in the back. but too dark to see what it was unless you carry a flashlight. the only light is on the front of the ceiling and it doesn't really flood to the back area. minor problem, but could have been better.

So the cutoff would be good for HIDs? Right?

we use the small digital h.i.d. kits in the motorcycles we build so we are going to install a kit in the smart. the cutoff seems like it should work great with the h.i.d. - i will let you know in a day or two.

ken

So no one will take pity on me and post low light pics with the lights on?

And which ones are the rear signal lights? Do they light up amber?

Oh yeah, bulb types anyone?

Oh no, faced with red signals again, I much prefer ones that light amber. With hope there will be a solution like the Euro lights we replaced the all red US ones on the Mini with:

Note, not our car just using photo for example
