Mine was off center a few degrees to the right, but this was almost certainly caused by some front suspension damage that happened to All Ball before I even took delivery (long story with a happy ending).

Anyway, after he was all fixed and fully aligned to spec, the wheel is still very slightly tilted to the right while driving straight.

It's extremely minor and barely noticeable, so I don't think I'm going to bother with it until my 10,000 service when I'll have an alignment done again anyway.

As long as the alignment is finaly in spec (which it is), I'm happy.

The steering wheel being turned off center when driving straight ahead has nothing to do with the alignment being correct or not. It happens just because the tech doing the alignment was not paying attention to proper procedure. Re-centering the wheel is a minor job and only entails turning one tie rod in and the other out the same number of turns so that the toe-in will remain the same.

With the roads in IL, your alignment will get completely messed up, so if your steering wheel is off, imagine how bad it'll be when you have an off steering wheel AND a messed up alignment!

Pure owners, superglue those hubcaps on because driving in this state might leave you coming home with less of a smart fortwo...

If you really want to know how good you drive, just take a cruise downtown...

P.S. Really, those roads need repair, cars are getting torn up around here. I can tell you the exact times that trucks and busses appear on the road outside my home in the mornings because they all end up in the smart tire sized pothole that is soooo hard to miss.
