You're right, it does look like you were doing at least 65 - that's because the smart is smaller and the eye's trained to look for distance covered relative to the size of what's moving. That's why Hot Wheels cars look like they're zooming, but a bigger RC car can go the same speed and disappoint. I watched a friend of mine pull out of a parking lot in his smart, and the little buggy just zoomed. Never mind that he was only up to about 20 MPH, but it looked super fast for its size.

I'll save the safety lecture for the first time you show blatant, persistent disregard for the people around you. I saw the video and might have misjudged a light similarly once or twice in the past. I've also been nearly creamed by others who made the same miscalculation. Both are - and should be - scary propositions.

I'm 41 years old and never had a ticket, wreck or a spanking like the one I'm getting here... Until today!

And again! I'm not bragging! i know your 55yo and everything and have a hard time understanding us youngsters... I'm laughing at myself for being stupid, and i also found humor in a video of my tiny, tiny, tiny smart, that everyone jokes about being a clown car, or a moped, for going thru a intersection at what looked like warp speed. It was meant to be funny! I missed it!

I can't believe it was only 50 bucks for running a red on camera!

I paid 3 times that for going 12 miles over the limit on a bridge.

PS - I love it when everybody apologizes like that.
