2008 Chicago Auto Show ...

unlike L.A. it doesn't appear that smart will be participating at the 'big one' in Chicago this year. As I typically buy my tickets in advance, I received an email from the Drive Chicago site ... a few debutes but no smart. I know its early but these things are planned way in advance ... I would imagine they'll be in Detroit (with headquarters being close by) if anyone hears otherwise please post!

As things stand now, they don't need to be at the Chicago Auto show. They have 30,000 plus reservations which is a year and a half's worth of production. Word of mouth on this beautiful little car is all it is taking to sell it. I'll lay a dollar that it beats out the "bug" in popularity before it's all over.

Despite 45,000+ reservations. smart is exhibiting right now at the Indianapolis Auto Show.

Hoosiers line up to see how many can fit in a smart at one time.

I have plans to go to the show in Chicago for the first time this year. I was really hoping that smart would be there... :-(

By the time the Chicago auto show is on, you probably will be able to see the Smartfortwo at you dealer and go for a test drive.

smart has been on-and-off participants in the Chicago Auto Show since (was it really 2004?); so it's likely that if you don't see them listed now, they're probably not exhibiting.

smart will not be exhibiting at the Chicago Auto Show this year. Confirmed at smart center Lincolnwood, my dealer.

Well, if you've thought of attending the Chicago Show, why not take a five hour drive on over to Detroit for the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall Arena on the river between Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Heck with just a small side trip you could also cruise on over by Bloomfield Hills and see the U.S. Headquarters of Smart. Now that could be a real 'trip of a lifetime'...(grin).

Hey, our economy is hurting so you can't blame me for trying to drum up some tourist business. Seriously, though, I've read that some Canadians are flying in just for the purpose of coming to the car show. The concept cars being alone make it real 'entertainment' annually. I plan on attending, and I hope I'll be able to drive my Smart there.
