Dayton area owners or vendors

I'm Tom Gnau, automotive writer for the Dayton Daily News.

I may be wrong, but I believe I saw someone's Smart Car southbound at Shroyer and Dorothy in Kettering on the morning of Jan. 20, say, around 10:30.

If that person — or if anyone here from the Dayton area — is interested in being interviewed for a feature story on their new Smart Car, please feel free to drop me a line. I'd like your thoughts on what you love about the car, how it's working out for you, why you purchased it, etc. We're basically looking for all Dayton-area Smart Car owners/admirers.

I can be reached this way, or at 225-2390.

Thanks for your time.

Tom

Hi Tom,

Merged your 4 threads into this one in the Midwest Region; more views here. Not that there are many cars in Dayton yet.

One thing that you can include in your pending copy on the smart is that, since deliveries have begun, there are a lot of hard feelings among customers over "dealer processing fees" (or whatever they individually call them), after everyone having being told by the distributor that the car was a fixed price for everyone with no dealer add-ons. It isn't working out that way.

This national introduction is a little different than other new models; we customers, collectively, have pre-funded a good part of the roll-out.

Thanks

Thanks for the messages and notes everyone.

I am interested in the entirety of the buying and driving experience, including dealings with dealers. The car itself is not the only new experience here. Purchasing it is also different, if I understand this correctly.

And I'm looking for at least a trio of Dayton, Ohio -area motorists who have taken the Smart Car route.

Again, tgnau@daytondailynews.com or (937) 225-2390.

Also, you can PM me.
