Garage
Congrats!

Good to see one in somebody's garage; also explains why the smart gurus were not at the auto show this afternoon. Very nice looking car; please keep us posted on your driving impressions.

John

Detroit Grand Opening

Well I was there and have photos but can not figure out how to post them.

Media turn out was very strong, did see MISMART but as he stated he was very busy being interviewed.

Did get to talk to the Sales Manager.

My wife is awaiting her call. He said that we here on the net know more than they do. Detroit did get cars but not many. They do not even have pricing on the hats and accessories they have on display.

There are still three cars in the window.
Three in the show room
4 parked out front.
and only about 6 additional in the back lot.

I had her Reg info with me and he could not even look up info in their computer system. We are a March 26 res date and he said they would call when they have info.

They were very friendly but not very sure of themselves when it came to car info.

They do have two demos and you can call to make arangments for test drives.

MR C,
You should have grabbed me today - I would have liked to meet you. I think I exhanged some pm's with your other half. Would like to meet other local smarties.

I understand that cars will be rolling in on a regular basis now, and I'd quess that you'll have yours soon.

Regarding the computer systems not 100%, pricing on accessories not complete, unsure about specific details - we must remember that a complete new brand, distribution system, and dealer network was introduced to the US and up and running in less than a year. I don't think that has ever been accomplished before.

I understand the small gliches - finishing the paperwork on my car nearly drove the business manager crazy, due to the small issues not totally resolved yet. It will all come together I'm sure and we'll all be smug in the fact that we were 'early adoptors'.

Hope you all have the same happy experience that I had today.

Mismart, I caught you on the channel 2 and channel 7 news, and saw the articles this morning in both the Free Press and the Oakland Press. I feel a bit like a voyeur, watching from the outside, and enjoying it! Good show, old chap!
I'll be visiting Bloomfield myself today, looking for my smart, if it's there, and a couple others and meeting my smart brand specialist Ashlee.

Enjoy your new smartie!

Michigan Document fees

The State of Michigan authorizes licensed new-vehicle dealers to charge a document processing fee of $180 or five percent of your vehicle's sale price, whichever is less. This fee is regulated by the state and reviewed biennially. Factors such as inflation may cause the state to increase the maximum allowable fee.
