All I ask is a call, e-mail or a smoke signal at the least so I know they have received my voice mail I have left for Tony and Ryan.

Also, I am not interested in getting an orphan, I reserved my car in March and I want the car I ordered, unless of course they have an orphan that is Black/Silver/Black Leather which is unlikely.
I didn't mean to imply you were harassing the dealer. I think it's quite normal to expect at least a quick return call confirming they got your message. Maybe it's the guys day off, or the message got lost. Stuff happens. Try stopping by the dealer and see if you can take another longer test drive. Tell them you need to see how it handles on the freeway. A little more "face" time with Tony or Ryan might help nudge them along. You might even offer to take them out to lunch. Sales people like to talk and you might get some inside info. This is going to be your dealer for years to come, if you buy a Smart from them, and they want happy customers. Hang in there!

I have visited them and the last time I went the place was swamped with gawkers and kooks and it took nearly an hour to get a minute with Ryan to check my status of...you guessed it, within 90 days.

Just a quick update...Tony gave me a call today and was nothing but professional regarding the delayed delivery date on my car and assures me he will investigate it. He genuinely seems baffled about the whereabouts of my car and told me that my situation is not in the norm and he will do everything he can do to put me in my car. I also gave a call to SMARTUSA earlier this afternoon and was given the standard lines but the girl did say my car should be built but had no idea where it was.. I will keep my fingers crossed.

The problem is that you live in the land of CHEESEHEADS, north of the CHEDDAR CURTAIN....

We down south of the curtain are SWIMMING in shiny new Smarts ...

My car came in ahead of schedule, but I didn't like the interior color, and the dealer in Lincolnwood had me exactly what I liked within two days. No problemo.

I think it's just TOO MUCH CHEESE.

I could be mistaken, yet again , though....

:-))

the DDE has been a interesting amusement with me

today (28 April ) two days shy of my anniversary in line

it tells me
Estimated ETA Date:

3/31/2008 to 6/29/2008

is was 4/8/2008 to 7/5/2008 for a few days

it completely befuddles me how anyone could write code to result in a past date in a 90 day window predictor

But no fear...I am thoroughly beaten down...the Lil bugger will get here sooner of later...

to keep the beginning date in the present, the option would be to write code that gave you a < 90 day window, or keep moving your end date farther into the future with every change of data that moved the start date of the estimator, just to keep the 90 day period.
since it is a 90 day estimator, you may find yourself in the middle of that period of time. that sorta makes sense if it is looked at as a 90 day window.
I have a 70-odd year life expectancy, which has a start date some time in the past and an end date some time in the future. I find myself almost constantly in the middle somewhere.
I'll admit I misread the intent of the estimator when it was announced. I thought it was going to be, "for those of you whose cars will be arriving within 90 days, this will tell you when to expect delivery". In other words it would come up empty until you were 90 days away from taking delivery and then it would track the progress for the last 90 days. that would have been nice, and useful. For those who needed to make plans, very useful.
Either that was not the intent or someone got the programming wrong.
