Unless You are in BC yes, you should plug it in.

Search on Clubsmartcar.ca. Some one there was making there for a reasonable price

Even owners in most of BC should plug it in. There is a myth out there that all of BC is warm in winter. False! Minus 20 was common in the West Kootenays. Minus 30 is normal in NE BC. And we had -18 two years ago on Vancouver Island!

The dealers want silly money for that part. A guy on Club smart Car had some replicas made up and is selling them for half of what the dealer charges.

I am in Kelowna, BC where it is pretty mild and at my oil&filter appointment next week, I am adding a stick-on pan heater to my 2005 cdi.
First couple of years I had the car it was garaged. Next two, I used a magnetic heater but they suck IMHO. Last winter it was fairly mild and I used a folding smart garage. This winter, I will be ready with my electric oil pan heater!

If you have it, use it, is my advice. The diesel's heater is very slow to warm up, so you will be more comfortable. And your car will last longer too!

Is there a block heater for the 451? It would be nice to have your engine all warmed up pror to leaving the carport...
