The Hartford CT dealer is open but the Fairfield CT dealer isn't yet. Any news on NY dealers? White Plains is of interest to me. I'm about 1 hour from Hartford and White Plains and 30 minutes from Fairfield. Thought with three dealers we'd see some volume coming into this area.
Hartford (Hoffman Auto Group of East Hartford) had their open house last Saturday. All they had was 2 borrowed cars, no brochures, no test drives. They did say that they have a list of 20 confirmed cars coming to them. Mostly 1173-5.
Hi I called yesterday and they still have no cars to test drive I will keep you posted when they are in. I really want to drive on in real life before I purchase.
I dont know whats taking so long at Fairfield. The building is complete, and it looks like everything is ready to go. There isnt anybody even there during the day, and at night the place is lit up. You can see the Smart signs from I-95, but yet no cars...
Thanks for the update Passion. I live in Redding so the Fairfield dealer is ideal for me. I guess they're going through what other dealers are - trying to ramp up at the last minute and not knowing how many cars they'll really have. I just reserved in early January so I don't expect a car until maybe late this year, if then. But I believe that once they start hitting the street, the manufacturer will kick up production and get more cars in the tri-state area faster. They want to sell the cars and to do that they need to have the production.
They have cars you can drive now as of today call to let them know you are coming in... They have not made any deliveries yet, still waiting for my car to come in from the port. It was discharged on the 31st of December in Baltimore Holiday weekend coming argh...
Since your in Redding for sure Fairfield is your dealer. Fairfield is attached to the MB dealer and they have a large indoor warehouse where they store cars. So they could always be in there. The smart center is literally on a postage stamp piece of property, there really wont be a "lot" of cars.
I was at the dealership in East Hartford on friday night. The cars are here, they are waiting for paperwork on the cars. Will be contacting people soon. There were at least 10 cars there. 2 of which were demos.
Hartford still has not delivered a car. There is an unspecified paperwork holdup but they do have demo cars you can drive and others to check out.

smart center Hartford delivered a silver blue Black 1174 Passion Coupe This afternoon. Woo Hoo Why mine first you may ask. Sitting at the salesman's desk the half of the conversation I can hear .."well sir we can't hold it till spring here..."
