Highest config/confirmation email for the Tri-State area?
We have a lot of dealers in the tri-state area. I'm in western CT and Fairfield, Hartford and White Plains NY are within 1 hour. I could easily go into the city also. What the highest config/confirm email for our area? I reserved in 1/2008 so I'm not expecting anything anytime soon. Just turned in my lease car and I'm driving a cheap spare care we have - no A/C and very basic. When do you think we'll be able to get a smart? Should I cozy up to the dealers to try and get an orphan?
I just configured on the 1st with a res # of 1337, which was around the end of Aug. My dealer (Fairfield) is running strong and they have been delivering cars at a steady clip I have seen so many different cars at the couple of times I was at the dealer, I couldn't keep track.
Fairfield stated they didn't have an Orphan list yet as everyone has taken delivery. I am guessing they have delivered around 10, but thats speculation by me. They have gotten to know my quite well at the dealership.. I really need to stop annoying them!
Given my very late registration #1482, I was most surprised to receive the configuration e-mail message on 1 February**a lapse of less than two weeks! Perhaps there is some sort of anomaly on Long Island, New York, but I sha'n't complain. I configured the car immediately, and now am rather confident to receive a 2008 model smart. Thus, there will be less competition for orphan cars over here. ;)
It seems that the East coast has far less reservations then the west. We have people in the 1200's that havent confirmed in California, and here here have a lat 1400's all set! Seems very strange to me. Or it could be the fact that there are LOTS of smart dealers in Cali, and comparingly only a few here. Either way I think that my smart is coming alot sooner then expected!

I reserved on Dec. 28th (1457) and am now even more anxious for 'The email'. I'm in Mobile, though and haven't heard of but one other Bamalamain on here getting a smart. Probably still have a whileto wait.
I am beginning to suspect that late reservation is no longer the liability it once seemed to be, particularly in regions with lower demand for smarts. It makes sense for smart to attempt to get cars placed all over the country in the initial**introductory**year of importation. This would mean that they might distribute the cars in such a manner that a shortage, or longer wait, could affect an area with a large number of reservations, such as California. It sounds as if Mobile may be a good place to be, if one has a late reservation number!

But surely there must have been a good bunch of people still ahead of you!?
