Is this a First , for Smart to be on network TV as a positive news item ?
The two 450's were welcomed and included in the activities the same as all the 451's. Mine never once felt discriminated against. His birthday sign on his nose was a little ajar (because his nose is shorter).
Any gathering of smarts and owners is always fun and interesting.
I'm thankful smartUSA has not needed to participate in the endlessly boring TV, newspaper, etc, ads. And add that cost to the cost of the vehicle. If I participate in an event that benefits the smart dealer, so be it. And when the dealer sells more smarts, after-marketers sell more stuff to the new owners. And everyone is happy, happy.

I totally agree with BeSmart's two sentence summery. At the BH birthday party I, for the first time as a 450 owner, felt completely incorporated as an equal in the company of 451 owners. Out in the everyday world I feel that same way with the inquisitive public. The equality to which I refer extends to Vinnie, the hierarchy at BH and, what must be surprising to some, Dave Schembri.
I imagine the feeling to be similar to, being embraced, as opposed to being tolerated.
I really wish 'Belkin 666' had been there, I would be genuinely interested in his take with regard to this subject.

For those that don't live in the LA television market a little clarification is in order.
Whipnotic is NOT an NBC network program. It is a locally produced and aired program dedicated primarily to the Hot Rod crowd. I would hardly call it a hit since it has no consistent air time slot and is always shown in "off times" on the weekend, often very early in the morning.
Also, this episode contains about 4 minutes of coverage of the BH self-promotion party. It's also curious that one of the prime sponsors of the Whipnotic program was also a "title" sponsor of the BH event. Sounds like an infomercial to me.
you're included when it benefits them - when your presence gets them free publicity - but ask BH or Dave for help and you will get nothing. smart usa policy - their company policy [by choice] - is no help - no service to 450 owners.
I have never felt excluded by smart owners - when I first got my smart and there was no "official" smart support around, this site and many who post here were incredibly helpful w/ advice in postings and pm's.
The funny thing is, now, even w/ smart dealers in usa there is still no "official" support for me.
Sure, support smart owners and their events, support events by independents [like the smartmadness event coming in June], but why help a company that has turned its back on you?
For those that don't live in the LA television market a little clarification is in order.
The following is NOT intended as either an apology, excuse or defense but, a statement of facts.
When I learned that the Smart event was to be on NBC TV, I was very happy to pass on the fact. I had no idea it's content. In actuality it did come across as an infomercial hiding behind an air of authenticity. I too feel Ed&Al used Smart for their own "self-laudation". Fortunately, it was only a program that actually harmed no one, it is done and past, live and learn. Everyone should be proud to have had the president of their car company come to, and speak at their local event.
