August 2nd 2008 track event in BC

Hi gang,

Clubsmartcar are putting together a smart track day for driver training up here on August 2nd this summer. Once we have the track day nailed down, we will also be putting together a Show and Shine nearby at the same time.

Here is an excerpt from my communications with the professional driving school:

"We are currently in the construction phase of our new purpose built driver training facility at the Pitt Meadows Airport. This facility will be about 500' x 1000' in size and will be runway quality asphalt. We are about 3 - 4 weeks from being done the first phase, which will be 250' x 1000', and we should have the second half done for your program time frame. As you know,we are currently using the runway for driver training (75' x 1200'), so our new facility will be substantially bigger, even after the first phase. The facility is between the two parallel runways that run East West, directly South of the runway that you used in the Spring. We have a website at bcdrivingcentre.com that you can look at...
...We can do a program for up to 24 people for you which would run from 08:30 - 16:00 or so, which would include handbooks for all participants for $3250. This program would have 4 - 5 Driving Unlimited instructors and would qualify each of the participants for a 10% discount on their collision portion of their insurance for 5 years if they are insured with Canadian Direct Insurance. We would do a variety of training exercises including vision slalom, braking, collision avoidance, lane change etc..."

We need 24 participants to make this approximately CAD$140 each. At the moment, we have a dozen. It would be great to have a few more of our Southern neighbours join us for this event!

Thanks jwight - it looks good for us at this stage. We are going to start planning a side event now for those not interested in the track. Tailgate party/ show n shine - should be fun!

Before the 451, several of us use to drive down to the Seattle section Mercedes events. The 450 model cars were always a big hit.
