Highway 101 Diner
If you're ever up in the Sequim, WA area, you've GOT to try the Highway 101 Diner! It's like a 50's style restaurant, with wonderful food and great service. My wife and I used to go up for the Lavender Festival in July each year, and we tried to have as many meals at the diner as possible while we were there! Food is wonderful, reasonably priced, and I recommend ANYTHING that has their hollandaise sauce on it.........especially if they still have the Seafood Eggs Benedict. It's regular Eggs Benedict topped with baby shrimp, and then their wonderful hollandaise sauce. The first thing I had one evening had the hollandaise on it (lots of tarragon......... ), and I LOVED IT, so from that point on, anything with the sauce!! Friends I work with that know the place sometimes drive all the way to Sequim (from the Ft. Lewis area) just to eat at this place! Check it out! You won't be disappointed!
P.S. I know it's the other thread, but sorry I missed your first gathering! Glad it went well! Perhaps I can make the next one. We already had plans for that weekend.

Oooh. Yummy subject...
Lincoln City, OR and on down to Yachats there are some 5 Napkin eateries:
LC: Fine Dining - The Bay House. Fab chef and a great wine steward.
Great dining: The Blackfish Cafe, The Wildflower, Salishan, Pier 101, I'll think of more.
Casual dining: Mo's (LC & Newport), Gracie's Sea Hag in Depoe Bay, The Newport Cafe, lots more on the Newport Bayront...more to come...
Burgers and sammies: McMinnimins (great beer/ale too,) Punk & Barry's, Mulligans, some like Roadhouse 101, more to come....
HULLO .........munchmunchmunch...........H wy 101..

You folks are making me hungry. Let me suggest a few.
Lincoln City - I've always liked Kyllos, I had fish tacos there once and were made with Mahi Mahi and used a unique and delicious sauce. I had the same on my next visit.
Cannon Beach - Driftwood Inn. I've been going there for over 20 years and never disappointed.
Pacific City - Pelican Pub & Brewery for the beer, food is good.
My favorite though is the Riverhouse Restaraunt next to the Nestucca River. Great sea food.
Near Port Townsend
Fat Smitty's for hamburgers, on 101 where it connects with HW 20, about 10 miles before Port Townsend.
In Port Townsend
Salal's for breakfast, haven't found anything better than this place for breakfast.
Port Townsend Brewery - Excellent microbrew's, better than Pelican Pub IMHO.
The Belmont for lunch or dinner.
Sea J's Cafe - a tiny restaurant next to the ship yard has great cod and halibut fish & chips.
Manresa Castle, anytime. Don't stay there, they say it's haunted.

I can recommend the Bridgewater and Travelers Cove on Bay Street, Florence for lunch. The Smokey Ceaser Salad at Travelers and BBQed oysters at Bridgewater are excellent, as are the halibut or salmon sandwiches, yum! So far, the only restaurant in town with any consistency is Waterfront Depot, you have to try the Crab Excrusted Halibut. Waterfront Depot is small and reservations are encouraged.
Further south in Winchester Bay is Griff's by the Bay. Not much on atmosphere but a nice stop for lunch. The Oyster bed is out on the point of the bay, buy some to take home, they're the sweetest oysters on the coast!!

There are some good choices in Lincoln City south to Newport already listed above.
Well since no one else will hoist it, the Rogue Brewery across the bridge from cannery row in Newport. Love their chowder! And their brews!
I haven't tried it but would like to-- Shirley's On D Bay on cannery row in Newport .
There was a nice little place south of Depoe Bay called Whale Cove Inn (2345 S Hwy 101) with a scenic view and good chowder, but it is gone. It has been replaced by a very nice upscale eight-suite inn and not sure if there is dining there. Even so, the view wouldn't have changed!
I like Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay for a great view and tasty treats.
My brother likes breakfast at the Pines on the south end of Lincoln City, on the highway at the intersection to the beach and Siletz Bay.
Cheers,
Chowderhound Timo
