Has Anyone had Smart Center Seattle apply the Chip Protect?

I'm curious to know how it's performing. How is it holding up? Is it obvious that it's there? Do you recommend it?

Are you referring to a product similar to StoneGuard - a clear plastic sort of adhesive? If so, I've heard that 3rd party applications are cheaper than the Center and that the first place to think about it is probably the removable hood.

I have the 3M Clearbra on my smart and on the yellow, it's invisible!! Towing it behind my MH so glad to have it. Installed by the dealership on my Orphan, cost me $500!

I had mine done at smartcenter Seattle before I picked my car up. It was recommended by LorbeerTLC, and his reasons made sense to me. Like Dunerunner, I also have plans to use my car as a TOAD at some point in the future, and especially since my car is Metallic Blue, I thought some extra protection couldn't hurt. UNLIKE Dunerunner's smartcenter (I'm assuming Portland?), they charged me $800. That's the entire hood, the front panels back to within about 6 inches of the front of the door, the trailing edge of both doors (just a little strip), the backs of the mirrors, and the black areas behind the doors on top......next to the Tridion. Also, a MUCH heavier application over the headlights. I could have had it done elsewhere for $500, but I wanted to have the cost rolled into my financing, AND I wanted to have it done BEFORE any rocks chipped my paint. I looks good. You have to really look for it to see that it's there. I did have a problem just last Sunday, though. The thin strip on the back edge of the driver's door came lose, and doubled back onto itself, and then re-stuck. It looked really UGLY! So I took it back to smartcenter Seattle & Ethan had them redo it. He also filled my tank (which was EMPTY) for free for my troubles, and gave me a smart baseball cap to also repay me for having to make the trip back up there. So...........I like it, I still think that's it's overpriced, and if I had it to do over again, I probably would have just had the same guys that did my window tinting do the ChipGuard as well. I could have gotten BOTH done for $700. Plus, they've agreed to do smartcars at a discount. They don't use the same 3M material that Seattle uses. They say that they used to use it, but they found a product that they like better and that they think is more "invisible" than the 3M product. Seattle HAS SAID that IF anything chips or cracks the protected panels OR the headlights, that THEY will replace them. Now........that isn't written in the contract anywhere, so................hopefully they'll stand behind their word! They have so far!

I've got this same deal on my orphan from scpdx and you know what? Upon inspection yesterday I noticed a small scratch in the clearbra! The rest of the car is perfect, no scratches, knicks, dents, dings or anything (knock wood)- just a scratch in the clearbra!! Makes me wonder if the crealbra isn't quite as tough and the plastic panels.
