Yesterday was a spectacular day here on the Oregon Coast. I was privileged with the company of four impossibly handsome, sublimely talented, utterly charming, and flat-out brilliant smartmen:
John H - arriving in his bodacious burgundy smart - with his ingenious LED indicator light thingie, box of interesting and perfect tools, vente espresso, infinite patience and vast experience;
Dunerunner (Scott) - arriving in his wheeljeweled ray of rolling - the master of hilarities, all things 'lectric, and BREWS as it happens (we learned so much…);
Jerry, Scott's compadre in BrewskiWorks, all-around great guy, and a lucky husband whose wife grows the most amazing gardens (over 100 varietous Rhodies!);
And my dear Dad, who was so pleased to pal around a project in the garage - no greasy motor thing, an ~electricality~. Connectivity. Common sensity.
And there, positioned precisely in the center of it all, was my smart.
Surrounded in tools and awash in collective brilliance, she underwent her enhancement operation. (Still, she at me, I could see it, for not getting her a bath in our “pre-op.”)
(Tuning in and out of the smartmen’s conversations harkened me back to years ago, hanging with my husband while the cars got fixed in garages filled with that heady automotive scent. I learned about Jesus clips and tools. The how of things mechanical. He taught me the importance of nomenclature, and jargon, of improvisation. He could always find that core – that circumstance where the problem begins – and he’d go from there. Ironed his own shirts and always had clean hands. My brown-eyed, handsome man. Sigh)
Meanwhile, the four wizardly smartmen, a few hundred years of combined experience collaborating, as those engineers do, right here in this garage. Sigh.
(I’d been minding the time for an eye-guy appointment that I made three months ago, and when HULLO woke up just fine, I forgot to hi-five I think.) Anyway, the test-drive to the real reason for Dunerunner’s road trip, the Pelican Pub – off we cruised.
I’m one lucky gal, and can’t ooze enough out of these fingertips to convey my awe, my , and my love.
I certainly appreciate the adulation. My big concern is that everything's working beautifully well without hiccups! I forgot to put the "bumpons" in but was happy to see your instrument cluster buttons worked fine despite the omission before we headed off from the pub. Thanks for a superb lunch.
The Area451 cruise control install was fun. Since Steven from Smartieparts installed mine, this was a first for me (though I've installed a few LED indicators since then). When all the CC pins were where they needed to be, I didn't think we needed to bother with a function test before buttoning everything up because I was confident everything went together perfectly. Kudos to Area451 for such a great product!
The real winner on this trip was Jerry: a superb free lunch just for riding along with Dunerunner.
I enjoyed the time together, Susie. Cruise in good health!
...the SCOA family....what a beautiful thing....and the one thing that brought us together....a car....who would have thought it....very cool guys...very cool..
The bumpons are something I added to the LED kit because the clock-reset switch (sometimes the odometer reset switch) often gets a little difficult after an LED install. The bumpons fixes a difficult switch but yours work wonderfully.
