Non-ethanol gas

Good news for Oregonians (at least in a few months):

Quote:
Beginning January 1, 2010, gasoline retailers in Oregon will be able to sell ethanol-free premium gasoline. House Bill 3497, introduced by Republican Leader Bruce Hanna and Rep. Tim Freeman and recently signed by Gov. Ted Kulongoski, addresses issues some consumers are having with an already enacted state law that required retail transportation fuel gasoline blends containing at least 10% ethanol.
I'm wondering what other states will allow non-ethanol fuel since this ethanol craze is both starting to wane and to heat up depending on which side of the coin you look at.

Such is only effective if a state has "opt-in/opt-out" authorization. Otherwise, the determination is solely a Federal issue. As best I can determine, Oregon presently has no Federal ethanol mandate. That may change when the much-increased, Federal national ethanol mandate goes further into effect, and that previous authorization is superceded.

Where I live, the Governor of the Commonwealth of VA has no opt-out ability, and we are stuck with E-10 in my local Hampton Roads area.

N.B. In spite of that, I can squeeze-out 45/46 MPG at 50-55 MPH on E-10 on open roads.
