Had a quick chat last w/e with the lady at Portland Smart. She says they are getting on average two deliveries a month with approx 15 cars in each. ( I think it was 15 not 50)
In three deliveries (?) they have already had, they DIDN'T get pre notification of some VIN's, they DID get pre-notification of some VIN's and they got some pre notifications and some not pre notified. Go figure.
They have five repair bays at the premises (on Canyon Road). Three cars are on the show room floor incl. a black Passion and a Cabrio.
Two Smarts seem to be available for test drives. My test drive impression(s) were I enjoyed using the paddles more than the auto-transmisssion. I found the auto transmn slightly jerky to start with so used the paddle system to smooth out said jerks. You have to concentrate somewhat on using the paddles because the left one is a down shifter and the right is an upshifter. The brake is "computer controlled ". Like others I was surprised how high up I seemed to be. No feeling of being in a go kart or being at the "mercy" of other cars.
Quiet ride and easy for me to get in and out and 6ft 1 ins. With seat well back no problem with comfort athough obviously you are not driving for much time on a test drive. I did notice that there is a relatively large blind spot on the passgr side due to the wideish safety frame I guess.
I'm a 1218 with a mid Dec configuration so am optimistically hoping the 120 day from config to delivery theme puts me at an April delivery but who knows
I think my 17 year old son is more impatient than I am because he figures to do most of the driving as the local "chick magnet".
