S-O-S to PNWers: Need ~cruise~ install.

I've had my 451 for a month [cue "That's Amore" by Deano] while the Honeymooners were taking in Italy -
...sigh.................

theBrycemaster had bad news from Higher Ups - no can do the install in smartservice. And yet we see that other smart centers ~are~ installing aftermarkets. He can only refer me to a third party shop.

True, there's the warranty "question," but my bet's on the engineers and other wizards around here to win that one. After all, it's a computer thing at its core, isn't it? Testable. Traceable. Electrical choreography.

Dad could do it, but he's the only one who's a 'first-timer' who has my faith, but he's just not up to it, bless his heart. I could do it, but that breaks my 'first-timer' rule, and for excellent reasons.

Since I really can't travel much farther than Portland to the North, and the same for South and East for a day trip, this is an S-O-S for options.



[cue: Neil Young] Even before Cloud 9 decided to colide with the very air she breathed that dark, new night, just as the nice Trooper zapped her wth the lazer-bust or whaterver radar they use now...(God, those lights are bright,) anyway, I've been coveting ~cruise~. It's here, in my hands, in the box. So close, yet so inert.

So, if any of you 451-wise smarties are contemplating a trip to the Lincoln City vicinity, lunch is on me at any of our many fine eateries, along with a mucho appreciation tip, of course...

On the larger picture, this issue really should be uniform smart-wide. Either the 451 is legit or not. Certainly, if some smart centers are installing, then all should be installing. And, of course, prices shouldn't vary much.

I don't know that any Smart Center installations are blessed by any Smart higher-ups. Slightly up north in Seattle (as pointed out in active threads) they're using a 3rd party to do the install even though they're "offering" the option.

I didn't do the install when I got mine - the Prosser, WA gathering was great fun and a chance for a gratis install. If the your cruise clouds darken as spring approaches I might be able to help clear those skies. I'd love for someone closer or heading to Lincoln City anyway to help you out, though.

Your cruise will be in your car, just perhaps a little longer of a wait than you'd like.

Sure wish I could have made that Prosser trip. Loved all the pics, and sighed at the funery had by all. I wear my dime-on-pin everyday.

Then too, I didn't have the fun tickets for the 451...it's that ~waiting~ thing. What is it my dear little old sainted grey-haired gram used to say? Wait, and you get nicer things...ain't it the troot, aint it the troot, said the Cowardly Lion...
