smart camping trip

Decided to take the smart to the ocean just to get out of Dodge for the weekend. Put the Yakima setup on the roof and loaded up.
We took a 13' dome tent, queen inflatible mattress and inflator, double sleeping bag, camp stove and fuel, 2 full size camp chairs 2 soft ice chests, extra blankets and plenty of food and cookware.
Milage going to Westport into a 25 mph headwind was dismal: 32 mpg.
Rest of trip: 39 mpg.

Very comfortable the whole trip, never needed to get out of the car because of discomfort and were able to take along EVERYTHING we needed to enjoy camping.

Hope you post some photos !!!

I seem to take everything I can think that anyone within 10 miles of me may need - whether I know them or not !! I'm sure you made a lot of people double over with Glee as they saw you pass by......... I imagine you looked like the IKEA ads with things piled 20' tall on top of your little Smart !!

What a HOOT !!!

What is the Yakima setup? My son does a lot of camping and this may be a good present for his smart.

Mine is a set of "Q" towers, 2 pairs of "Q" clips #116, 2 48" roundbars, 4 locks, a 38"fairing to cut noise and drag, a basketcase for general hauling and a farout bag for weatherproof hauling.

Still trying to figure out how to post pictures...

Forgot to mention, we had had the "check engine" light for a while and had continued driving after pulling the code to confirm PO414. Called smart hotline Sunday while still at the ocean and they said to stop in Monday on our way back home at smart Seattle. We dropped in without any other notice at 11:00 am and were back on the road with a new secondary air injection valve by 11:20 am.

Great service, great car!

Keep having afterthoughts here...

Passed an identically colored cabriolet going the other way in Grayland. They still had temp tags and honked like mad. I'm guessing it'll be a little while before Grayland has 2 smarts again.
