I called smartusa corp this morning and canceled.. I'm just bored/frustrated/fedup with the deal. After receiving my "less than 30 days to go email" in the first week of january I contacted the dealer. Unfortunately they knew little more than I did about my purchase. They assured me that the 25th of January was going to be the hot ticket. That's D day. The cars would come in a couple days to a week before and come up a couple days early and test drive one and we could probably get this done in the morning because I wanted to goto the 24 hours of daytona later on that day. So I called on the 21st. Yeah were running a little behind but feb 5th is going to be the grand opening. Well cool thanks for the heads up. Not sure what happened to the 25th but hey it's only 10 days. Good thing I didn't plan my day around it. So instead of calling I just show up on the 4th at 3pm. If your going to sell me a car at 8am the next day it should be in by now. yeah well what I saw was unfinished drywall in the dealership. signage still going up and surprise. No cars. The reason my car would not be there tomorrow is some exec's plane was delayed. OK. So that's what 4 hours? A day? On the worst that's two days? "As soon as he signs off we can pull the cars from the impound lot on the other side of town. They are all prepped and ready to go. It will be a matter of hours." So feb 5th comes and goes.. the 6th.. and the 7th I get an email.
"Hello everyone, We have great news, we are going to be delivering 41 smarts in the month of February! The cars are being prepped for delivery to our dealership and we now have a delivery time of approximately the middle of next week. This means that we will be able to expedite the orders that we currently have. I will be in contact with those of you who will be taking delivery of your smart with a time that we can deliver your smart to you. Please contact me with any questions you may have."
Let me weed through this BS here cause it's littered with it.
We have great news
>>>I'm flabbergasted, I expect greatness to follow something like... my car is in now and we're not going >>>to charge you $500 in prep fees since we've let it sit outside for 2 weeks
we are going to be delivering 41 smarts in the month of February!
>>>you told me this in january, news is usually something new and current. This is like reading a 10 day >>>old paper. I'm sorry but the greatness has worn off. Continue*
The cars are being prepped for delivery to our dealership
>>>you told me this was done already, are you honestly saying that you've let 41 smart cars sit over at >>>the training center for 3 weeks and you haven't pdi'd a single one? Jesus mary and joseph. WTF. If >>>you spent an hour on each that's still 41 hours of labor against 3 weeks, I know they've been over >>>there. I've seen them personally.*
and we now have a delivery time of approximately the middle of next week.
>>>is that a date? I thought dates had numbers on them. Some of the worlds most notoriously >>>unreliable people such as the cable guy can give you atleast a 6 hour window of when they think >>>they'll be there, I get a generalization of what lunar phase my car might be delivered under. Let me >>>just mark that on my callander. It's a good thing I'm not busy and have lots of free time.*
This means that we will be able to expedite the orders that we currently have.
>>>no $hit. Good idea Einstein. We've been jerkin everyone off come 3 weeks now. We better get on it >>>or customers will be pissed.*
I will be in contact with those of you who will be taking delivery of your smart with a time that we can deliver your smart to you.
>>>well good, I'm glad. After no less that 3 solid attempts by phone to ascertain a delivery date and >>>multiple gonna be here by dates plus 2 trips upto the dealer, I'll sit here glued to the phone waiting >>>on your call. I don't have anything better to do than micro manage a car sale that's supposed to go >>>down on three different dates*
Please contact me with any questions you may have.
>>>which I did call. I asked Gimmie a firm date so I can mark it on my calendar and make sure I don't >>>schedule any important meetings that day. I got the same song and dance about how they should be >>>there the middle of the week but he'd call me when they get there.
Here we are. Wed was the "middle of next week". Today is Thursday. I even passed this off to forum member who called trying to buy it in my place but couldn't get any more firm of a date than I could. He was dieing for it cash in hand style. He couldn't get a return phone call from the finance dept. He finally got one today. 4 days after his call. 4 BUSINESS DAYS! he had already found one in miami. got financed. and put 200 miles on it before he got a call back.
Since the 7th of feb.
Have I received a phone call or message or email saying "Yes we promissed you this date but again for a third time we are going to monkey with the date because of insert excuse here" No. This week I've heard nothing. Not a "hey your car is almost ready. Next Friday it will be here. Is that OK?" or "Hey we're not sure when it will be here but I told you 10 days ago that it would be here so I wanted to give you an update. I'm sorry about the delay" Something other than me calling for a change. Or me driving up to the dealer only to find that I was lied to. Zero customer service.
I have received 3 calls from my bank though wondering "what's going on". We've set aside time in our schedule to close and finance this car and it keeps not showing up. Today they started to imply with their questioning that they wondered if the car really did exist. So out of this deal I've wasted several hours of my time chasing their salesmen around for a straight answer. I wasted hours of my bankers time. I'm just done. The sad part is I've always had good service from brumos in the past but this is ridiculous.
