Car Show Northwest Florida October 25, 2008

This is for a show in Northwest Florida on October 25, 2008. LOTS of stuff to do as it is at the (click for link) Air Force Armament Museum. FREE admission into the museum, plenty of cool planes to look at, AWESOME - AWESOME - SUPER AWESOME door prizes! Some may be too big to take home in your Smart. I know a lot of people find shows boring but this one isn't too bad.

I've volunteered to help out at this show in previous years and it was great. This year I'm opting to sit back and be a true spectator (hopefully). I will however, suggest a PRIME spot to park the Smarts if enough (link) preregister. Most other cars won't fit in there but since the Smarts are tiny...... The whole show field is on grass so no hot parking lot to contend with. They should give us our own Smart class if we have enough preregister too. Proceed go back into the show itself - this is how they get the awesome door prizes.

I know of 3 Smarts (2 of mine and my parents) so far that WILL be there and I'm sure a few of our local club members will show too. This would be a great meeting of the Smarts for Northwest Florida and Southern Alabama Smarties. Retired military Smart owners - this is a huge military community so there is always the option of trying for lodging if you drive from somewhat far away.

I know it's quite early to be talking about this show but it gives you time to plan. Long haul non-Floribama Smarties - the show is 10 miles from (link) DESTIN, FLORIDA! If you happen to be vacationing in your Smart, a different way to spend one of those vacation days. Don't forget to bring your own lawn chairs.

Reservation mailed out yesterday to the Commando site Alan...going to come over Friday evening and staying until Sunday afternoon in Niceville to break-up the drive and make it a "get-away weekend". Will be seeing you there...

Yes Nicholas - I have a feeling you called as they said a Smart guy called and asked a few questions.

Wdhitch - some day I'll have a reason to take a spin down your way again. I do head over to Titusville/Merritt Island every so often. I understand it'd be a bit of a haul for you guys down your way to make the trek up here.

I wish we could think about getting with the Microcar museum in GA and getting a Southeast Smart car get-together there - that might be another thread I start later if we get a few others that live close to the museum and can get together with them to be a bit more of a facilitator for such and event than I can be from a distance. Like I said, that's a thread in itself for the South Eastern forum - if anyone else wants to start it, feel free. If not I'll be back later to start it and knock around the idea. Not a national meet but a south east meet though anyone would be invited as that is the Smart & nice thing to do.

Nicholas, I need a favor. I need an additional driver for one of my Smarts (the red one as the wife refuses to drive) - if you guys want to drive it from Niceville you're welcome to it. I'll have it right around the corner from the Best Western/Holiday Inn. If not, I understand.

The museum is "only" about 70 miles from smart center Buckhead in Atlanta!
Would be a big plus for us who live FAR from a dealer to be able to combine trips.

Alan, no problem helping you...either Linda or I could drive it over for you. We are staying at the Holiday Inn Express both Friday night and Saturday so we can relax and do the drive home Sunday afternoon.
