We're small but we're growing.

It all started with a little blue/silver Passion and since then we've added 3 red/black Passions, yellow/silver Cabrio, and a silver/silver Cabrio.

The Emerald Coast Smart Enthusiasts Club gives Smart owners and reservation holders the opportunity to meet, make friends, and get to know who's behind the wheel of all those other Smarts they see zipping around town and waving at one another.

If you'd like to join us just send me an e-mail at alpha1243@hotmail.com. Let us know your name and contact info as well as what color/model Smart you have. We'll add your name to our distribution list and notify you of upcoming events in the area.

For those of you not familiar with Florida's Emerald Coast we're basically talking about the coastline between Pensacola and Destin.

The Emerald Coast Smart Enthusiasts Club met on Saturday in Navarre. We had 4 Smart cars and their owners. Everyone enjoyed the conversation, swapping stories, checking our each others's Smarts, and the East River Smokehouse BBQ.

The attached article was on the front page of The Community section of the June 5th Navarre Press. While the reporter didn't get the "get up and go" part correct, she did like the Smart enough to put down her own reservation.

We're planning our next get together now and details will be posted sometime next week.

I'll be at a small Park & Show with my Smart this Saturday (14 June) in Defuniak Springs, FL (good central leisurely drive between Pensacola & Tallahassee) Now this show is just a get together of car people of all types - NO ENTRY FEE!!! Donations only. The reason the little show was put together is a gentleman fell off a scaffolding on Okaloosa island and they are trying to raise money for him. It's a good cause which is what I'm about so I WILL BE THERE! I'll be there from 9:45am to 1:00pm - maybe slightly later but they normally cut the shows at 2:00pm. Now, since this is such a worthy event - I may be willing to let a responsible family member of a club member coming from east of the show drive my car to the event as I have multiple cars I am bringing up there (I'd like to bring 2 more and sorry, no, no one can drive any of the other cars up there - Smart is the only choice)

Sorry, no link for this little show as it was put together rather quickly. Once again, it is a good cause so it has all the makings of being a good little get together. Most of the time they have more door prizes than they do have people at the shows so you may even walk away with a prize or two.

Tallahassee Smarties, It's around 115 miles from the center of town. P-Cola Smarties, it's only about 75 miles for you guys (and girls - or vice versa ).

Club Meeting at Mesquite Charlie’s on June 21st at 5pm
After several members notified me saying that they’d be out of town on the 28th we’re going to move the next Club meeting to June 21st. 5pm seemed to be a good time for everyone last time, so let’s keep it the same. For those of you not familiar with Mesquite Charlie’s it’s located at 5901 N W St, Pensacola. Their number is 434-0498. Nell is going to notify the Pensacola News Journal to see if someone would like to report on this local event.

Please let me know if you can join us on the 21st and I’ll take a head count. That’s only 10 days away, so mark your calendar. See you then!

UPDATE to post #6 - I emailed the club who is hosting the show to find out a little more about it.....the reply:

"This show is for a fellow that fell and was badly busted up that attends St. Margaret's Catholic Church. One of our car members goes there as well...so we decided to do a benefit showing for this person and raise some money for his hospital expense. The show is at that church on 331North just off of HWY 90. This Saturday, June 14th at 10am until 2PM. We will have games and our concession wagon there as well and all of the money raised will go to Eric Broadway...the one who fell. I hope that covers it and you will attend."

Now, that being said the club that is hosting the show IMO has the BEST little shows around. I LOVE going to them as they are just a great little get together with lots of car involved fun. Small games to make the day go by quicker. Looks like I may stick around until 2pm, this is of course IF I can go. Something has come up that may keep me from it, IF I can not go - I WILL make sure my car Smart IS still there as I'll send my dad there with it. I'll be doing everything in my power to make it and there are very very few things in this world that will stop me from going to a good car show - one of those things just happened . Right now, count on ME being there.
