I received a second email; this time from the dealer!

Here's an excerpt of the email:
"Are doing mad dashes to get everything ready
to open here in our temp facility at Central
Florida Chrysler by hopefully the end of
next week - in time for the initial arrival
of the first units."

Dealer asked me for my reservation date, so apparently they are not getting that info from smart. By the way, I'm 1174, so that's great news for low rez numbers in the Orlando area.

Very interesting, thanks for the info. That would be much closer for me though the people at JAX have been super. I would imagine then that they would be the dealer that would call me.

They are owned by Rick Case because the lady told me... No idea why they opened it in Weston and quite frankly don't care as long as I get the car... I live in Miami so I won't be going up there anymore after the delivery...

I've been assigned Weston (which is more convenient to me than Coral Gables). Eagerly Awaiting the call - now.

Today I bit the bullet and ordered a USA Smart. We drove one in Jacksonville when they came on tour but decided I would be stubborn and get an origional from Europe (we had rented one in Germany and they are much different from the US Smart). I am here to tell you that I have been on the tele and internet for over four months trying to figure out how to get one legally and for under $20, and there is no way. I will sit a wait just as all of you have and only hope that mine will come in before the 09's appear.

I've driven both and the 451 smart is a whole lot better than the 450. Wise choice. The NY Times just reported that 30% of those who preordered early last year are dropping out (changed mind, bad email addresses, etc.) so go bug your dealer (be VERY friendly) and you might find one sooner!

my jacksonville dealer was surprised when I called him... got my email from smart and they were like... you're the first to call us.. asked alot of questions which he said he'd get alot of answers. They won't be "dealer" open till jan 25th

Just got a call from my dealer. Looks like I pick up my car early next week. The sales person said that my car was going to be in the first batch they get - woo hoo.
