Looking for help with speaker install

I'm looking for someone who has already done the Polk speaker switch who can help me with mine. I'm not comfortable pulling off the panels by myself. I'm willing to drive some distance (Ocala or Orlando for reference) and I'm more than willing to help I just want someone who's done it to show me... I'm a visual hands on person.

Thanks in advance.

Wdhitch - Are you saying there are no upscale sound shops in Tampa. Just kidding!! I watched my installers, and helped replace the door panels, as the guy didn't have four hands. Good Luck!! P.S. The link to the install pics are in the 'What the Members Only Area Should be' thread.

I'd help but I'm sort of far away :P Good luck with your install. The doors sort of "wrap around" the door frame and snap on.

I've reviewed them both... and I'm still not comfortable with it... I know of a couple of owners that have made the switch... I'll do the work, just want someone who has done it before there. There's an owner of a white smart that I'm thinking of...

I feel exactly the same as Wdhitch. I'm very close to a speaker upgrade. Thinking I'll have to bring the hardware in to a pro shop, armed with printouts from the Evilution site, and DIY from here. I've never removed a body panel in my life ... certainly not from a virtually new vehicle. And, that's only a part of the install, kinda intimidating.

I'd never removed a body panel either. If you review the evolution steps, FQ101 steps, the diy speaker install and fmaxwell's shortcut/tips threads you'll find it's really not that hard. I found that the only thing that's not well explained is disconnecting the power mirrors. Once you have them off, there's an electrical connector to "unplug." There's a clip that goes from the car side to the mirror side of the plug. You have to lift up this clip to separate the two plugs. (I stuck the jaws of my small needle nose vise grips under the clips and closed it LOOSELY on the mirror side of the connector and it unplugged very easily.) Best of luck with whatever you choose to do.
